New dementia cafe opening in Coalville

Are you a carer for someone living with dementia?

Coalville Community Resource Centre would like to invite you to the opening of their new dementia cafe on 14 April from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at the Coalville Community Resource Centre, Comet Way, Coalville, Leicestershire, LE67 3FS.

Come along and be part of a very exciting new venture, where you'll be able to have your say and plan for future events at the dementia cafe.

To celebrate their first day, they have a guest speaker joining them - Jane Robins, Leicestershire County Council's Carers Project Officer, who will be there to answer any questions you have about the Care Act.

Refreshments will be available.

Do you care for someone with dementia?

The Alzheimer's Society are running carer workshops to give you information and support. The Carer Information and Support Programme is a series of workshops run over 4 sessions, for people caring for a family member or friend with dementia. It provides an opportunity for you to talk in a friendly and confidential environment, about your experiences and the impact they're having on you.

Topics will include: 

What is dementia? 

Course dates 

Session 1 - Wednesday 22 April 

Session 2 - Wednesday 29 April 

Session 3 - Wednesday 6 May 

Session 4 - Wednesday 13 May 

All sessions will run from 1.30pm to 4pm.

Melton Theatre, Ashfordby Road, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, LE13 0HJ.

Who will be there?

The workshops are run by Alzheimer's Society staff and volunteers, for people who care for a family member or friend with dementia. Please aim to attend all sessions if possible. If you're unable to attend the above dates/times, please register your interest as future groups may be available.

Do you care for someone with an Autistic Spectrum Condition?

A new Social/Support Group for parents/carers/relatives of people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition is starting on Friday 20th March from 1pm until 3pm at Burbage Constitutional Club, 64 Church Street, Burbage, LE10 2DE. The group will then run every two weeks, giving you a chance to meet and chat to people going through similar things, with a drink and cake. Admission free.
