Volunteering with Support for Carers
We can always use new volunteers on our Telephone Befriending scheme. This popular and long established scheme exists to support carers who are lonely or isolated because of their caring role. Volunteers make weekly or fortnightly calls to carers they have been matched with. You'd probably start off with just a couple of carers to call, we wouldn't overwhelm you. You will receive safeguarding training and ongoing support in the role. For more details, please email Liz on lmcm[email protected], our Telephone Befriending Co-Ordinator.
VASL, the organisation that runs Support for Carers, are proud to be affiliated to Investing in Volunteers (IiV) the UK quality standard for good practice in volunteer management.
By being part of IiV we are able to:
• Enhance our volunteers’ experience and increase their motivation
• Strengthen our reputation and encourage more people to volunteer
• Minimise risk, maintain knowledge, and plan for the future
