‘Daytime Zoom Carers Support Group - Countywide’
About
This daytime Zoom support group is led by our Carers Services Manager, Kerry. This is open to all Leicestershire carers as long as the cared-for is 18+. Meet other carers, enjoy guest speakers and get your queries answered from the comfort and convenience of your own home. Perfect for carers who cannot easily leave the person they care for.
Every 3rd Friday afternoon from 2-3pm.

Wellbeing support for people who have long term health conditions that significantly affect their quality of life. Social and emotional support to help individuals explore different options. We also offer a range of complementary therapies (reflexology, lndian head massage, aromatherapy, massage & Reiki and relaxation) administered by skilled volunteer therapists. We ask for a small donation per treatment to cover costs. We also aim work in partnership with other organisations to encourage people to become more involved in their local community.
The group is open to adults of all ages with a diagnosis of a long term health condition, resident in Broughton Astley and district, particularly individuals who are isolated or lack other support systems. The group meets on 1st and 3rd Tuesday each month 10am to 12.30pm at Broughton Astley Village Hall.

A free local group that provides positive support and aims to boost the physical and mental wellbeing of those affected by cancer. Harborough Lifeline offers an emergency alarm service for anyone who feels vulnerable or alone, whatever their age or needs. Their customers may include:
Those with physical disabilities
Those with learning difficulties
Those who live alone
Those with sensory impairment
Those with limited mobility or those who are at risk of falling
Anyone who may feel alone or vulnerable for any reason
The service is run by Harborough District Council and provides daily wellbeing checks as well as being able to call for help in the event of illness. The technology can even identify if someone falls, via a wrist sensor that alerts an operator if it moves suddenly.

ONLINE understanding dementia course from the Alzheimers Society

The Alzheimers Society run CRISP, a very good 6-week programme for dementia carers giving them insight into the condition their loved one has, tips and tricks and coping strategies. We highly recommend it for all dementia carers, whether the person is newly diagnosed or has had the condition for some time.
With Covid-19, the Alzheimers Society are currently running the course by Zoom sessions. Please contact them for more details of the course including upcoming dates.

Spectrum Market Harborough

Spectrum LAS is a parent support group for parents and carers of children, young people and adults on the Autism Spectrum or on the Autism diagnosis pathway.
Spectrum serve South Leicestershire and beyond, including Market Harborough, Kibworth, Wigston, Oadby and surrounding villages.
The group meets monthly in Market Harborough, and organise a wide range of activities and events throughout the year. It aims to be a welcoming, non-judgemental and informal support group.
They provide information about Autism, a lending library and regularly invite special needs professionals to attend the meetings.
They meet on the first Wednesday of the month, 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm at Roman Way Community Centre unless altered by the school holidays. Also the third Friday 10am - 12 noon.

The Share & Care Group
About
The Share & Care Group is a social support group for people living with dementia together with their carers who live in Lutterworth and the surrounding villages. Meetings are run by professionals and volunteers who are trained to help those suffering from dementia cope better with their condition. The meetings, held in safe locations such as Lutterworth Methodist Church and the Parish Church of St. Mary, centre around a social gathering of people who share similar circumstances. Coffee mornings normally take place twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Friday from 10am to 12 noon, but the times and venue can vary. Please contact the group to find out more.
