‘Daytime Zoom Carers Support Group - Countywide’
About
This daytime Zoom support group is led by our Carers Services Manager, Kerry. This is open to all Leicestershire carers as long as the cared-for is 18+. Meet other carers, enjoy guest speakers and get your queries answered from the comfort and convenience of your own home. Perfect for carers who cannot easily leave the person they care for.
Every 3rd Friday afternoon from 2-3pm.

Meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 2 - 3:30pm at the Carnegie Museum in Melton Mowbray (opposite Morrisons). The usual leader is Hannah. Guest speakers are frequently arranged. Come and meet other carers in a similar situation to you, in a supportive, friendly environment. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided, optional donation of £1.
If you can’t make the face-to-face meeting why not come along to the Zoom group instead, on the 2nd Tuesday of each month 7-8pm, giving you the opportunity to meet other carers from the comfort of your own home.

Currently, Age UK will do a benefits check over the phone for Leicestershire residents to check that you are getting everything you are entitled to. Ring or email to request one. You do not have to be over a certain age.

A drop-in support group for carers of people with dementia and memory loss including Alzheimer’s. Come along and chat to other carers whilst enjoying a cuppa and a biscuit. (50p donation requested). The group also arranges activities and guest speakers. It meets on the third Wednesday of every month from 2.30pm to 4.00pm.

Beginners Health Walks

Free health walks for all ages and abilities run by Melton Borough Council every Wednesday from 10.30am to 11.30am. Walks are on fairly good, flat surfaces with no stiles to climb over so are suitable for wheelchair users.

Dementia Support Group - Dove Cottage
About
Dove Cottage, a day hospice in Stathern, is looking for people to join its online Dementia Support Groups. It’s an opportunity for carers to get information about dementia and gain peer support. They also have a home sitting service available. 2nd Friday of each month via Zoom.

ONLINE understanding dementia course from the Alzheimers Society
About
The Alzheimers Society run CRISP, a very good 6-week programme for dementia carers giving them insight into the condition their loved one has, tips and tricks and coping strategies. We highly recommend it for all dementia carers, whether the person is newly diagnosed or has had the condition for some time.
With Covid-19, the Alzheimers Society are currently running the course by Zoom sessions. Please contact them for more details of the course including upcoming dates.

Singalong on Sunday is held on the second Sunday of each month (except August). It offers an opportunity for you to come along with those you care for and enjoy singing along to lots of old songs from the past. We have musicians to lead the singing and the words to the songs are provided - but are not often needed, as once the singing starts those memories come flooding back. It is free and we have refreshments during the interval. We start at 3pm and finish about 4-45. We began in 2010 and are a friendly group

The Singing Cafe
About
The Singing Cafe is a cafe for people with mental health challenges including memory loss and dementia. Singing is good for you so why not take the person you care for along, so they can enjoy singing songs and meeting new people? Please check the website for Singing Cafe venues and times. The Singing Cafe is run by WOW Church, a registered charity, and they ask for a £3 voluntary donation per person, which includes refreshments. Accompanying carers need to stay with the person they care for.
