‘Daytime Zoom Carers Support Group - Countywide’
About
This daytime Zoom support group is led by our Carers Services Manager, Kerry. This is open to all Leicestershire carers as long as the cared-for is 18+. Meet other carers, enjoy guest speakers and get your queries answered from the comfort and convenience of your own home. Perfect for carers who cannot easily leave the person they care for.
Every 3rd Friday afternoon from 2-3pm.

The ‘Time Out for Carers’ Group meets on the 4th Monday of every month at Gorse Covert in Loughborough from 2.30pm to 4pm. Come along and meet other carers in your area, for advice and support and to enjoy some ‘time out’ from your caring role. The usual leader is Sheneice. There is often a guest speaker. A small optional donation towards refreshments is appreciated.
If you can’t make the face to face group why not join the evening Zoom group which is the 4th Wednesday from 7-8pm, giving you the opportunity to meet up with other carers from he comfort of your own home.

A drop-in support group for carers of people with dementia and memory loss including Alzheimer’s. Come along and have a chat with other carers whilst enjoying a cuppa and a biscuit. (50p donation requested). The group also arranges activities and guest speakers. It meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 1.30pm to 3.00pm. Supported by the charity Age UK.

Breathe Easy Groups are run by the British Lung Foundation Support Network and are open to anyone with any form of lung disease. They also offer support to carers, family members and friends. The service we provide is free, independent, confidential and impartial.
The advice we give covers all categories of social welfare law, although over 60% of our work actually relates to debt and welfare benefits. Other areas we cover include housing, employment, consumer, family & relationship issues and basic immigration queries.

ONLINE understanding dementia course from the Alzheimers Society
About
The Alzheimers Society run CRISP, a very good 6-week programme for dementia carers giving them insight into the condition their loved one has, tips and tricks and coping strategies. We highly recommend it for all dementia carers, whether the person is newly diagnosed or has had the condition for some time.
With Covid-19, the Alzheimers Society are currently running the course by Zoom sessions. Please contact them for more details of the course including upcoming dates.

The Singing Cafe
About
The Singing Cafe is a cafe for people with mental health challenges including memory loss and dementia. Singing is good for you so why not take the person you care for along, so they can enjoy singing songs and meeting new people? Please check the website for Singing Cafe venues and times. The Singing Cafe is run by WOW Church, a registered charity, and they ask for a £3 voluntary donation per person, which includes refreshments. Accompanying carers need to stay with the person they care for.
