VASL is the charity behind Support for Carers. In addition, VASL runs a range of projects in the Harborough District, including a community transport scheme to help elderly, disabled and rurally-isolated people who can’t use public transport; a project to help those living with a mental health condition; and a project to support people aged 60+ experiencing loneliness.

A Cuppa With Kerry - online support group

Monthly online carers support group for anyone caring for an adult 18+ in Leicestershire, led by Carers Services Manager Kerry. 2-3pm every third Friday by Zoom.

Billesdon Good Neighbour Scheme
About
Billesdon Good Neighbour Scheme (BGNS) uses voluntary effort from local people to provide help for ANYONE in our community who needs assistance.
1. Transport for appointments or maybe shopping in Market Harborough
2. Household tasks, such as changing a light bulb or moving small items of furniture
3. Companionship to those who would like a chat and a cuppa or maybe a game of Scrabble
4. Support whilst recuperating from illness, such as gardening. taking children to and from school, or light housework
5. Help with writing letters or filling in non-legal forms; reading to the blind or partially sighted; learning to e-mail.

on 3rd Sunday of the month from 2pm till 4pm
Cared for are welcome to come too
Tea, coffee and cake are kindly supplied and served by Waitrose staff.
This is a joint initiative between Waitrose, Support for Carers and the Rotary Club.

CLASP The Carers Centre

The Carers Centre are funded differently to us, so they have fewer geographical and age-related boundaries. We often direct parent carers of under-18s to The Carers Centre.

Online support group for working age carers

This online group is aimed at carers of adults 18+ in Leicestershire, who are of working age themselves. You do not have to be in work to attend, just of working age. Occurs on the second Wednesday of each month from 7-8pm.

VASL volunteer car scheme - covers Harborough district east of A5199

The VASL Car Scheme provides transport for elderly, disabled or rurally isolated people who can’t use, or have no access to public transport. The service is not free but is much cheaper than a taxi. You must register to use the scheme.
