Study into experiences of DNR conversations with doctors
One of the most difficult conversations you might have as a carer comes when your cared-for is so poorly that you and the doctors think it would be kinder not to resuscitate them if their heart were to suddenly stop beating. This is sometimes called a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) or DNAR (Do Not Attempt Resuscitation) order.
This is obviously a very tender conversation and sometimes it hasn't been handled as well as it might be, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. They are trying to fix this and learn lessons for future.
If you have experience of having a DNAR conversation with healthcare staff since March 2020, and feel up to discussing it with a researcher, Michaela Hubmann would like to speak to you. Carers Passport now taken as proof of carer status at Company Shop
