Age UK looking for Internet Champions

Forget the Olympics, Age UK is looking for a different kind of champion for 2012 - and it could be you!

It's looking for two people over 55 who are passionate about using the internet to become 'champions' - to inspire the 5.7 million people over 65 who have never used the internet before to get online.

By not using the internet, Age UK believes that millions of older people are missing out on the vast financial and social benefits that the internet offers - from giving grandparents an easy way to talk to their grandchildren for example, to saving money on products and services by shopping around.

This is the third year that Age UK have run its competition to find internet champions, and if you're one of the two lucky winners, you'll be asked to be a 'champion' for a year, which will involve helping Age UK to advocate the use of the internet to your peers.

The theme of this year's competition is 'how the internet changed my life' and nominees are being asked to share the life-changing benefits that being online has given them, whilst explaining how they would inspire their peers to get online.

The joint winners will be announced at an exclusive ceremony in the New Year and the champions and two runners up will receive a 3 day (2 night) all expenses paid trip to London and a 'London Experience'.
