The Respite Association - Grants for Respite Care and Free Holiday Scheme

Since its formation in May 2001, The Respite Association has helped many hundreds of carers have a well-earned break.
They may be able to help you in two ways. Firstly, via their main grant scheme, where they would help to fund some form of alternative care for the person you look after, so you can take a break. For example, the association may help fund a week's residential care for an elderly person with health problems, so their carer could take a break with a partner or friend. Or they may help fund a young disabled child to go to a special summer camp, so their parents are able to spend some time with their other (able bodied) children. These are just two examples of ways in which the association may be able to help you.
Secondly, The Respite Association runs a Free Holiday Scheme for carers. They have two caravans, one in Skegness, the other just outside Blackpool, which are offered to carers free of charge (they'll ask for a fully refundable damage deposit of £50). The aim of this scheme is to give carers a complete break, so you can't take the person you care for. However, you're welcome to take a friend or family member(s). The scheme is very popular and applications should be sent in now.
