Do you care for someone with dementia? Are you feeling stressed or a bit low?
Can online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) help carers of people with dementia, by boosting their mood for example?
That's what Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and Alzheimer's Society want to find out with your help. They're carrying out a research study and are inviting carers to take part. The study will explore whether online CBT, with or without telephone support or an online education/information pack about dementia, will help reduce feelings of stress or low mood, for people caring for someone with dementia.
To take part you'll need to be comfortable with the English language and have access to a computer and the internet.
CBT is a well established treatment for anxiety or low mood and has been shown to help people feel more able to cope with stressful situations. The study aims to find out if online CBT can specifically help carers of people with dementia, as they may find it difficult to find time to visit a therapist for example.
