Have your say and help improve local mental health services

Health, social care and voluntary services supporting mental health across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland have come together to improve mental health services throughout the area. To help them better understand what local people need when it comes to mental health, they're asking people to complete an online survey to help them improve services.

Do you care for someone with dementia? Want information and support?

The Alzheimer's Society is running a series of workshops run over four sessions, for people caring for a family member or friend with dementia. Known as the Carer Information and Support Programme, the workshops will be an opportunity for you to talk in a friendly and confidential environment about your experiences and the impact they're having on you.          

The workshops are designed to provide carers with information and support. Topics will include:

- What is dementia?
- How can you support and care for someone with dementia?
- Support services available
- Planning for the future

When & Where? 

The course is being held at Gorse Covert Community Centre, Maxwell Drive, Loughborough, LE11 4RZ from Wednesday 12th July as follows: 

Session 1 - Wednesday 12th July 
Session 2 - Wednesday 19th July
Session 3 - Wednesday 26th July 
Session 4 - Wednesday 2nd August 

All sessions will run from 2pm - 4.30pm. 

Who will be there? 

The workshops are run by Alzheimer's Society staff and volunteers for people who care for a family member or friend with dementia. Please aim to attend all sessions if possible. If you're unable to attend the above dates/times, please register your interest as future groups may be available.

Do you care for a young person or adult with learning disabilities?

The Family Carers Sub Group are part of the Leicestershire Learning Disability Partnership Board. They work with the Partnership Board on issues that affect family carers of adults with learning disabilities and young people in the process of moving to Adult Services (transitions). They also network with other groups within health and social care. Their aim is to improve support for family carers and the people you care for. 

The Family Carers Sub Group meets at County Hall, Glenfield from 10am-12.30pm. Their next meeting dates are 3rd July and 4th September.
