Would you like to improve services for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) carers in Leicestershire?
If so, you may be interested in attending a free six week course called 'Making a Difference' being run by the Afiya Trust in Leicester in January.
There will be no charge for the course and all your travel and respite costs will be paid.
The course aims to empower BME carers in the community to engage in local, regional and national policy making by giving carers the skills to join the Afiya Trust's National BME Carers Panel, which influences policy and practices for better services for BME carers.
The course will cover communication skills, presentation skills, research skills, negotiating, active listening, assertiveness, conflict management, inequalities, self awareness, working as a team and with professionals, challenging constructively and attitudes and values.
It is open to people who are carers for a family member and who come from a Black or Minority Ethnic community in the East Midlands.
The course has been accredited through the Open College Network and therefore all successful participants will be given a certificate which is Level 4.
